Mission Trips
Donegal Outreach in the North Country
For 23 years, the Donegal Presbyterian Church Outreach Team has partnered with Ministries in the North Country (MiNC) located in northern NY to perform rural rehab on homes for those in need of assistance. In those 23 years, over 70 members of the congregation have participated, including 33 very unique adults and 40 different youth members. Think about it this way… one third of our congregation has volunteered a week of their hard-earned vacation time to go on this trip at least once! Pretty good for a church of nearly 200 members! And here’s another fun fact – the average tenure of a team member is almost 4 years!
But let’s talk more about the impact these people have made on the families Saint Lawrence Country, New York and its surrounding communities. Combining all crew members, 265 people have traveled to the North Country. Working 8 hours per day at approximately 32 hours per week over the course of 23 years… you do the math. That’s over 1,060 total days of volunteer labor equating to over 8,480 hours of work done on the job sites – completing projects that have included metal & shingle roofs, insulation & siding, skirting, framing, dry walling, painting, plumbing, and so much more, all to assist individuals and families who were in need of the some extra help.
As we begin our third decade of mission work in the North Country, we hope to continue our work as servants of Jesus Christ.
