Stephen Ministry

Donegal Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation

It's Okay to Be Human . . .   An important theme of the Lenten season is the humanity of Christ. In Jesus, God became human and fully experienced the wide range of emotions we all encounter in life. He experienced times of loneliness, sadness, hurt, anger, disappointment, grief, and abandonment. Another part of being human is needing help from each other. Part of God's plan is for each of us to turn to others for help when we need it.  So when you are experiencing difficult times, don't struggle alone. Our Stephen Ministers will walk with you, listen to you, encourage you, pray with you, and provide confidential one-to-one care to help you through tough times. To learn more about Stephen Ministry for yourself or someone you know, talk with one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders listed in the bulletin.  Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you.

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is an active Distinctively Christian Care ministry reaching out to churches and the community.  Upon the completion of 50 hours in training, and commissioning, Stephen Ministers are prepared to minister to hurting people dealing with difficult issues such as: long-term health care, death, divorce, new birth, moving to a different home, hospitalization, aging parents, to name a few.

Commissioned  Stephen Ministers are then designated as 'Care Givers', and assigned to a same gender 'Care Receivers', having completed a brief referral process. This begins the one-on-one caring relationship.

"Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
