WITNESSED   ( Seen and Heard )

A most delightful tea party was enjoyed by nearly thirty Donegal women and several daughters who braved the very cold and windy weather, Sunday, February 10.  Some women came in beautiful formal attire wearing hats, and everyone brought a favorite cup and saucer, many were beautiful bone china, some with a story to tell.  Althea Johnson and Pat Garrigan had thought of everything for the occasion – every flavor of tea imaginable, numerous types of dainty sandwiches, tiny scones with Devonshire cream, and other delicacies too numerous to mention, all beautifully served.  Conversation and sharing was encouraged and aided by the round table seating.  Centerpieces depicted the four seasons and each became a door prize for someone at that table.  It was truly an occasion to remember and one that everyone hoped would be done again.

We’ve learned that Corey Landis will be portraying Skimbleshanks, the Railway Cat, in the production of  the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical at Elizabethtown Area High School, Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning February 28.

Beth Sturgis participated on Saturday, 16 February in the Lancaster-Lebanon County Chorus.  The day-long event, hosted by the Music Educators of the two counties, was an auditioned group of high school students from schools in the areas.  Beth sang second soprano as part of the chorus.  Donegal High School sent six students, including Beth, to the chorus, which was hosted by Northern Lebanon High School.  An evening performance of the students directed by two guest conductors covered a wide array of music that covered many styles and ages, from madrigal style to a piece that set the poem “Jabberwocky” to music.

What good things have you witnessed recently?
