THE
You may have seen or heard that a small Bible garden was planted
at the top of the steps on the east side of the church. The idea of such a
garden was brought up during a Wednesday Morning Circle Bible study. It was
thought that it might be a fitting addition to the beautiful landscaping around
A committee consisting of Regina Sloat, Joan Betty, Paula Leicht
and Joanne Myers volunteered to spear-head such a project following a survey of
where the garden would go. Approval was granted by the Session to proceed.
Regina Sloat researched and made a list of possible plants and corresponding
Bible verses. Soon it became clear that size and location of our plot along
with availability of plants in this region would determine what we could
include in our list. Another criteria for our choices was that most
plants’ names would appear as such in the Bible and any substitutes would
be near enough in appearance, or be a species of a given plant.
All the ladies have weeded, planted, watered and will continue to
nurture the garden through the season.
Copies of the plant list with their scriptural references can be
found in the Narthex.
