PURPOSE
The decision to build came at the request (of many
members) of the congregation as a
result of the ReVision survey in 2001.
Accessibility—The church would now be accessible to all, thanks to a
new elevator.
Youth Program—The new
building gives us the ability to expand our already growing youth program.
Fellowship Hall—The
expansion addresses crowding in Fellowship Hall during services, fellowship
time, church dinners, and other functions.
Back Door Church at Donegal—The new addition creates an environment where our new 11:15 a.m.
service will grow.
Parking—Will be improved
to accommodate the project.
Archives Room—Among the
new features is a room where people would be able to view documents concerning
the rich history of Donegal as well as do research on the church and genealogy.
Improved Education Wing—The
new wing adds square footage and refurbishes the existing classrooms.
View and Terrace—The new
Fellowship Hall will feature a glass wall that will allow us to enjoy the
beautiful grounds of Donegal with a view of the spring. Attached will be a shaded terrace where we
will be able to enjoy fellowship outdoors.
Preserve Historic Integrity—Attached to the 1958 Education Building, the addition strives to
preserve the historic integrity of Donegal.
The view from the front entrance will be nearly unchanged. The new entrance will blend with current
architecture, borrowing design features from the cemetery wall.
Local Missions—The
church allows us to deliver on our goal of reaching out to the surrounding
community. It makes it possible to
follow our mission statement “that all may be whole and fully alive in Christ.
